Singapore may be a relatively small country in terms of size but don’t let this influence your opinion on the beauty of this nation. We have frequently heard that Singapore is the best place to experience for ‘first-time’ visitors to Asia and we can both attest that there is plenty of truth to this. For those of you wishing to visit, you will have a myriad of accommodation options to choose from, just like any other city around the world. We want to share our thoughts on why The Westin Singapore hotel is the perfect choice for any type of traveler.
Visiting Singapore is more than just a hotel experience but of course, it’s imperative that you find somewhere comfortable, relaxing and in a great location to explore the iconic attractions around the city. The Westin Singapore checks all of these boxes and plenty more. We will share several reasons later which we are sure will convince you to at least consider this hotel on your next trip to “The Lion City.”
I’m sure you are all familiar with the Westin brand and it’s safe to say, the Singapore location well and truly epitomizes the culture and mission of this brand. We had nothing but an amazing experience here from the moment we checked in to the late check-out the following day.
The Attractive Culture of Singapore
Whether you are intrigued by the delicious street food that is so popular in Singapore or perhaps you are inspired to experience the beauty of Sentosa Island, the city with the same name as the nation is definitely a place worth exploring.
When the first Prime Minister of Singapore, Lee Kuan Yew, spoke the words below, it’s no surprise to hear that he was speaking proudly about the locals that make this such a beautiful place to visit.
A nation is great not by its size alone. It is the will, the cohesion, the stamina, the discipline of its people and the quality of its leader which ensure it an honourable place in history. (Lee Kuan Yew)
The moment you arrive at Changi International Airport, unsurprisingly voted as the world’s best airport in the World Airport Awards (both 2015 and 2016), you are immersed in the friendly culture that makes Singapore such an attractive destination.
We feel that The Westin Singapore Hotel perfectly exemplifies this culture. The friendliness of all the employees that work at this hotel was a great example of this philosophy. We were welcomed the moment we walked through the doors and everyone was an absolute credit to not only the Westin brand but also the nation they represent.
The Westin Singapore Hotel Information
If you are looking for a hotel located in a perfect spot to explore Singapore’s rich central business district and more authentic neighborhoods such as Chinatown, the Westin is the perfect accommodation option.
For those fortunate to have a room facing the sea, you will have an awesome view overlooking Sentosa Island and also a shipping lane that is never ending. Alternatively, the Singapore skyline and business district is attractive (at least for the architecture lovers out there like myself) so regardless of your room, I don’t think there is a bad view anywhere inside this hotel.
As you will find out, the views continue to get better and better from various parts of the hotel, including the Lobby Lounge, the outdoor swimming pool area, and the restaurants (more on the delicious cuisine later).

The Westin Brand
I think the below statement explains it pretty well! When you stay at The Westin Singapore, you are staying at a high caliber establishment, one where you will be comfortable, relaxed and perfectly located to explore the infamous landmarks that make this nation such an attractive destination for visitors around the world.
The Westin Singapore is rated among some of the renowned 5-star hotels in Singapore (The Westin Singapore)
But what makes this hotel so special? Let’s find out based on our very own experiences in this beautiful hotel!
The Westin Well-Being Movement
When you stay at any Westin Hotel, be prepared to experience the “Well-Being Movement”, a philosophy of various pillars that will enhance your overall stay. All of the components that we will mention along with others collaborate together to create a perfect hotel experience.
The Westin Singapore certainly achieves these pillars through their facilities, exceptional customer service and an ability to provide a cutting-edge experience that makes this THE hotel to stay in Singapore.
Here are the 6 pillars the Westin brand is promoting along with our take on how the Singapore location is successfully achieving each of these:
- Sleep Well – The BEST bed we have experienced! Crisp white sheets, clean, fresh and incredibly comfortable – the epitome of everything you look for to achieve a perfect night’s sleep.
- Eat Well – A wide selection of SuperFoodsRx items are available at Seasonal Tastes, providing healthy options full of nutrients needed to energize you throughout the day.
- Play Well – Late checkout on Sunday (check with the front desk and perhaps you can have a late checkout each day you stay!) will help those that enjoy the Singapore nightlife as will the extended breakfast hours at Seasonal Tastes.
- Work Well – High-speed wireless Internet throughout the hotel allows you to stay connected and stay productive. The rooms have a spacious desk with a gorgeous backdrop of the South China Sea (be sure to stay focused otherwise you may find yourself admiring the scenery rather than your work).
- Feel Well – The Heavenly Spa by Westin is the ultimate experience for those that want to be pampered while staying in Singapore. All of the other amenities will help you stay fresh and energized.
- Move Well – The world-class fitness amenities will help you stay in shape as you enjoy the various restaurants at The Westin Singapore. Even if you don’t bring own workout gear, the hotel will provide everything you need to enjoy the awesome facilities.
Luxurious Lobby Lounge
It’s not often that we will start our review of a hotel’s amenities by discussing the lobby area. However, the moment you leave the elevator in The Westin Singapore and notice the glamorous lobby area, you will realize why we included this in our review.
The most noticeable aspect is the size of the lobby and the huge ceiling featuring gorgeous, modern chandeliers that add to the overall appearance.
The decor throughout the lobby is a mix of contemporary and classic, creating a mood that will attract guests to spend time here while sipping on their favorite beverage. Whether you are a wine connoisseur or prefer something a little stronger, you can be sure that the Lobby Lounge will have an aperitif to meet your needs.
We spent quite some time relaxing in the leather armchairs while listening to a local pianist perform Christmas classics, creating the perfect mood for guests at the hotel. Take a moment to glance outside and admire the spectacle of Sentosa Island and the South China Sea.
Enjoy a Fine Dining Experience
If you choose to stay at The Westin Singapore, you can be sure that your stay will include a fine dining experience at one of the various restaurants throughout the hotel. Indulge a little during your stay and entertain these delicious restaurants and you won’t be disappointed.
We already mentioned the Lobby Lounge and this is the perfect place to enjoy an afternoon tea or your favorite beverage while mingling with business partners or family and friends.
I love the feel of this area with such gorgeous windows providing panoramic views over the South China Sea.
After a morning exploring Singapore’s iconic attractions, be sure to get back in time to enjoy a selection of seafood, desserts, and champagne for only SGD 85 per person. Can you think of any better way to enjoy afternoon tea?
It’s all about high-end luxury at The Westin Singapore and all of these delicacies illustrate the lavish feel throughout this lounge.
Lobby Lounge SPG Discount – SPG Members can enjoy a 20% discount on all food and beverages at the Lobby Lounge though this is not applicable to the Seafood and Champagne afternoon tea.
The Westin Singapore’s primary dining location is Seasonal Tastes. We enjoyed a delicious breakfast buffet here but you are able to enjoy all meals of the day.
This signature venue is yet again a gorgeous setting with floor-to-ceiling windows providing ample light and epic views around the city.
A spacious setting allows ample room for the buffet experience and based on our experiences for breakfast, there is pretty much everything you could imagine.
Seasonal Tastes offers a relaxed, casual environment but a combination of traditional Asian cuisine along with international dishes ensures that everyone is catered for. It is the ultimate ‘personalized’ experience as you are free to sample a little bit of everything or perhaps just indulge in more of your favorite dish.
You can even enjoy one of your favorite drinks in the morning if you want to start the day in fine style! Head over to the bar area and pour a glass of champagne to celebrate an awesome experience at the Westin Singapore.
Seasonal Tastes SPG Discount – SPG Members can enjoy a 20% discount on lunch and dinner buffets.
For guests looking to experience a trendy restaurant, why not sample Cook and Brew, a gastro-bar serving a myriad of intriguing dishes and “a meticulously curated list of fine wines and selection of over 100 beers.”
Brews from all around the world are available but if you need something a little stronger, I’m sure the delightfully crafted whiskey flights will satisfy your needs.
Cook & Brew SPG Discount – SPG Members can enjoy a 15% discount on the total bill when dining here.
Infinity Pool and Fitness Facilities
After all this amazing cuisine, you may be ready to burn a few calories or perhaps enjoy the spectacular Infinity Pool. Head to level 35 and The Westin Singapore has everything you will need to satisfy your fitness goals.
The outdoor infinity pool overlooks the Singapore skyline, and as you swim to the edge and peer down, you will quickly realize just how high you are (don’t worry, this is a great way for anyone to relax and overcome their fear of heights!)
If you prefer to just relax outside the pool, there are a number of sun loungers waiting for you to stretch out and enjoy the Singapore sunshine. Head back indoors and you will be greeted by one of the friendly staff who may entice you into the Heavenly Spa by Westin. A variety of modern facilities are provided, including the Experience Shower, Whirlpool, and Aromatherapy Steam Bath.
A visit to the gym may not appeal to everyone but we think that the WestinWORKOUT Studio may just inspire you to hop on the treadmill and burn a few extra calories. High-tech workout machines are available while a quick peek outside will immediately reveal a spectacular landscape, another reason that may lure you inside the gym.
The In-Room Experience
I always try to save the best until last and it’s fair to say that the best aspect of staying at The Westin Singapore Hotel is the actual room. Spacious, comfortable, gorgeous modern decor and filled with a refreshing feel.
All of this and much more combine to make the rooms at The Westin Singapore a memorable experience.
Entering the room, you immediately capture the soothing feel of the decor through the choice of colors and the amount of natural light that filters into the bedroom.
The moment you lay down, the signature heavenly bed whisks you away into another world of relaxation. This has to be the most comfortable bed that we have ever slept in, the difficulty being getting up in the morning.
The room is filled with everything you need to ensure you have an enjoyable stay, while the moment you step into the bathroom, you are again encapsulated in a luxurious environment to keep you relaxed.
A walk-in shower offers an “invigorating rainforest shower” experience while the deep freestanding bathtub offers awe-inspiring views of Sentosa Island and beyond. After enjoying these amenities, relax in one of the comfortable robes that are provided as you admire the gorgeous views from your hotel room.
It’s difficult to give a direct comparison with other hotels in Singapore given that The Westin Singapore Hotel is the only place we stayed during our short time in this nation. However, what we can say is that our experience was amazing and we can 100% recommend this hotel to anyone planning to visit this beautiful country.
If you are looking for a luxury, affordable accommodation option while visiting Singapore, the Westin is certainly an option worth considering. I’m sure there are many viable alternatives but based on our own experience, you cannot go wrong if you choose to stay in this trendy hotel.
